Multimedia Website
In this blog, I am going to talk about my dream holiday. We are finishing this semester and our favorite holiday is coming. This holiday I plan to fly back to China as I have been apart from my parents for half a year. I am homesick. If I had a chance, I would go to Paris, France.
This blog is an assignment in Practical 8&9, but I enjoy this assignment because I can say something about the dream holiday I have always wanted. In order to know more about Paris, I gathered information online. I chose “Travel Channel” as my references (www.travelchannel.com/).
Travel Channel is an organizational website, not maintained by an individual. Click on “About Us” at bottom of the website and we can get the detailed information on this website. Travel Channel states the purpose of the website clearly. They aim to “connect people to the power and joy of human journeys that inspire”. People can share their travel stories in this website. In my view, this website gives enough information about other countries’ scenery and their culture, making a friendly impression on potential visitors.
The portal of “Travel Channel” is very colorful and the number of images is more than text, attracting people at first glance.
Site map is available for us to check the coverage of the website.
The coverage is divided into six parts: TV Shows, Schedule, Video, Destinations & Interests, Sweepstakes and General.
I just typed “Paris” in the search box for quick access. Very quickly, Travel Channel returned me 135 results.
This website is mainly focused on travelling and I think the vest way to describe a destination is to show the attracted images. Travel Channel is this kind of website, giving many beautiful images in its presentation.
I was clear about the kind of content under each heading as the type is stated. I chose photo type and clicked on the title.
(As there is a limitation of words in one blog, I have to post another continued blog.)
Images and videos were returned to me. The colors of the images are light and bright. The images are usually high definition, giving me a feel of the atmospheric. These two dimensional high definition images make me excited and want to rush to that place immediately.
Other than beautiful images, Travel Channel briefed me on what is in the picture with a summary of the scenery. But it is just a brief to give me a general idea of the famous spots. If I want to know more about the Eiffel Tower, I could not find a link to supplement the information. But I can find out more about Paris since links are provided at the bottom.
